Special Comment by KO on Prop. 8

This is good stuff. For the most part I feel politics is a personal choice, but then again, I don’t think this has anything to do with politics. Like Keith I am not gay nor can I even think of anyone I know well who is, and I still find the passing of Proposition 8 mind numbingly deplorable. My main question is why do people care? I personally have no interest in intentionally making anyone’s life worse. Life already has enough obstacles between people and happiness, it doesn’t need any of us to to help it. The simple truth is these people should not pretend to give a shit about where humanity is headed when there are much bigger issues going on in the world. What if we put this much energy into HIV/AIDS, genocide, poverty, pollution, etc…?

Another thing. These people must have wicked awesome lives if they have time to worry about how to make other people’s lives worse. Damn people, sit your butt down and watch some American Idol if you got that much time on your hands.

And for everyone who uses religion as a basis for banning gay marriage; why not let God be the judge of us? Isn’t that like part of his/her job? People will continue to be gay whether they can marry or not, so if they are going to hell either way at least let them be happy here on earth instead of making their entire existence “hell”.

Here is a link to the video and story.

Here is a link to a rundown of a measure passed in Arkansas. The  measure basically says people can’t adopt or provide foster care if they are cohabiting “with a sexual partner outside of a marriage which is valid under the constitution and laws of this state.” Supposedly 4,000 kids who are already in this situation will be displaced.

The good news? The world is continually getting more liberal accepting. It’s just a matter of time before we can all just live our lives.
